First, thanks SO much for ALL of the comments you left about cereal...26 original comments! That's awesome. It sure got me and Mike hungry for some specialty cereals we don't typically buy. So much so that Mike made a couple of purchases today :-) Mmmm..magically delicious. Oh, and Freakies cereal, Julie? We had NEVER heard of it!
And now on to the challenge. For as long as I can remember, Mike has claimed that he CANNOT tell a difference between Coke and Pepsi. Hard to believe, right? I think 95% of people can taste the difference and most drink one brand exclusively. Mike has always said he likes them equally. We have joked about doing a taste-test for a while now. We made that happen tonight. It was hilarious. I wish we would have done video instead of photos, but here it goes.
The challenge is on!
Mike opted to "cleanse his palate" prior to starting the taste-test. Alex is like, "What the?"
A blindfold was not necessary, but Mike insisted on it.

During the challenge, I was starting to wonder if this was all a ruse and he's always been able to tell. Not only did Mike determine each, but he has (finally!) come to the conclusion that Coke is his favorite! No more indifference or wishy-washiness over this anymore!
Our blind taste-test had nothing to do with the original Pepsi Challenge, in which consumers were asked to taste each soft drink and tell which they prefer...unlike our lame experiment in which the original intent was to determine which was which. So, basically, this experiment was a waste of our time...and yours.
Now, of course, I MUST ask...which do you prefer??? I'm sure you have your opinions :-) Keep it nice!
P.S. Oh, and as for me, I don't really care and will drink whichever. I like the sweetness of Pepsi though...and I prefer the Pepsi points to the Coke rewards to download music! I will say...that, for whatever reason, I think Coke is classier. I kind of associate Pepsi with NASCAR, I don't know why.
Mike: I don't know where Amy gets Pepsi == NASCAR (???) but I do agree with Coke being the classier of the two. Coke is a steady, old tradition. Meanwhile Pepsi is for the young and hip. Almost as if it were a new generation's choice. Where have I heard that before?

I am just getting caught up on my blog reading- you guys crack me up! I am a Diet Coke girl all the way. Pepsi gets flat way too fast and I agree that it doesn't feel as classy in my hands as a Diet Coke ;)That Nascar comment- classic!

When I first started drinking diet soda I liked diet pepsi. After awhile I realized I really didn't like it and swtiched to diet coke which I originally didn't like. Now I drink diet coke and avoid pepsi as much as possible. My husband says pepsi taste like rocks. I have always believed that I can't tell a difference between coke and pepsi for the most part. After the experiement you have me wondering if I actually sat down and tried maybe I could...and then maybe I could choose a favorite. The pictures were great captions made them just that much better, and Mike you are too funny.I would have to say I'm totally differnt than most people. I love Diet Coke and wouldn't even think about drinking Diet Pepsi, but on the other hand if I were to drink the regular stuff I would never touch Coke its Pepsi all the way then. So with me it totally depends on if I'm drinking diet or regular, but most of the time it is diet for me therefor I would have to say I'm a coke girl.

I've gotta go against the current comment grain here and say that I prefer Pepsi better. I am truthfully like you, Amy, in that I will drink either one. But if Coke and Pepsi were side by side, I would pick Pepsi. I drink mostly diet soda so that goes specifically for the diet line of sodas! I think Coke is better in every way (diet, cherry, regular). The only thing Pepsi has going for it is Mountain Dew.Also, I love the glasses over the blindfold!

I'm so glad my incision is healed up, because I laughed like crazy when you said you think Pepsi is associated with NASCAR, which, by default makes it less classy than Coke. :)Anyway, Coke is my favorite. Hands down. Diet Coke is a TON better than Diet Pepsi. (DP is FLAT! YUCK!) And Pepsi simply doesn't have the same kick and Coca-Cola. Mmm...love me some Coke...especially from McDonalds!
