Old(er)
Thank you for all of the sweet birthday wishes. Friday was a great day :-)
Alex has sure been making a lot of "old" comments lately. A few days ago, he was studying the top of my hand while we were laying in bed together first thing in the morning. He had to be reminded of the word, "veins." Then, he said, "Mommy, do you have veins like Nonna?" (That would be my mom). "Mommy, are you old like Nonna?" Um, I'm sorry, but I do not have Nonna's hands.
He often comments on my dry elbows, but today was a little different. As he touched them (why? why does he need to touch them? But I guess he's often hanging on me). He made a face like, eww. And then simply (and rudely, I might add) said, "You're old." Nice. Then, I immediately lotioned up my old, dry elbows.
On a side note (and it has nothing to do with my age or my kid thinking I'm old): I may be taking a few days off from blogging. I'm not feeling like much is blog-worthy in my life lately (again, is it ever?). No worries, really, just need to take care of me.

BearHug plays with the skin that is getting looser on my hand. :) I'll miss you taking some time off blogging, but I really am not one to talk, huh! :)Mom (aka Nonna) - Wed July 30, 2008, 7:49 pm
OK, Missy, I'll have you know I had lovely hands at age 31. Oh, by the way, I'm going to the podiatrist for my hammer toe and bunion soon. Maybe you have that to look forward to also - sorry!!!Antonette - Wed July 30, 2008, 4:38 pm
Must be the age. Christopher has been commenting about my age lately as well. It doesn't help that I'm almost hitting forty.See you when you come back.

This made me think of my Grandma. I would always slightly rub the back of her arm. It was so soft! It was a place she was self conscious about, but the soft touch brought me a strange comfort. I guess you could say I'm a touchy feely person. I'm sure Alex finds a comfort in your dry elbows and Nona hands. Something he'll rememer as a fond memory. No matter what you think of you!(Nona..I love all of you just the way you are!)Praying for you my friend!!

Ethan says stuff like that a lot- it can make you feel very...um...aware :) He had me so paranoid about my yellow and nasty teeth that I actually went and got tooth whitener. "Why are your teeth not white, mommy?" NICE!Take a break- just let me know when you come back :)

You're not old, and boys can be snots. They learn it early. :)We love you, and we want you to take you-time. Therefore, we'll be here waiting whenever you come back. :)
