Sweet Jane

I'm really upset right now.  Jane, our beloved 10-year old beagle, has been VERY sick for the past week.  She hasn't eaten since Friday.  She has been to the vet who said it is her heart or pneumonia.  She's been on medicine since then (well, what she can keep down).  In the past week, she has vomited a lot of bile, lost control of her bladder, just laid around way worse than usual (as she has always been a lazy dog)...her legs have just gone out on her (we've had to carry her around).  Tonight she seemed really bad and Mike and I just laid with her.  She was making awful moaning noises that we've never heard from her before and seemed to be in so much pain.  It was killing us to see her suffering so badly and we knew she wasn't going to pull through this.

Mike is on his way to the emergency clinic to put her to sleep so she can finally be at peace.  She was always such a good dog...so great with Alex.  How am I going to explain this to him in the morning when he wakes up and she's not here?  Wow, this is unfortunate preparation for what is to come with his baby sister later as well...explaining about heaven and being too sick to stay on this earth with us.  Hard to explain to a 3-year old.  What a year, I tell you!!

Yes, I said baby sister.  We had a 3D ultrasound done in Indy last Friday and got to see some beautiful pictures of our baby girl.  We will have to post some of those and announce her name to you all in another post.  Right now I need to go pray.
