The Girls Getaway
My mom brought up wanting to treat the girls in our family to a getaway a couple of months ago. We all thought it was a great idea and were really looking forward to it. All six of us amazingly got together this past weekend. We went to a Bed and Breakfast in Crawfordsville (about 40 minutes south of Lafayette) called Thelma’s (named after the current owner’s grandmother whom he bought the house from 8 years ago and spent 5 years transforming it into the beautiful B&B it is today). We had so much fun!! The house was unbelievable. I wish I would have gotten pictures of the individual rooms but by the time I thought of it all of our stuff was strewn about. The owner was very hospitable and it was so great to have the entire B&B to ourselves.

We walked the trails in the woods at the back of the property. All of us tried the tree swings (chains hanging from massive trees with a wooden disc to sit on), a lot of fun and quite dare-devilish/scary at the same time. We played games (I bought “Imaginiff” for the occasion, which is a lot of fun to play with a group of people you know well), ate pizza from Johnny Provolone's in town (which was VERY good…wish we had good pizza in Lafayette!), and drank wine. A massage therapist came in and gave each of us half hour massages, very relaxing. Then, Cheryl (the woman who works there) offered up her karaoke set/game for us to use if we wanted. I had not done karaoke since college and that was always with a group of people. Many of the other ladies had not done it, but there was no holding back amongst the family that night. It was hilarious!! It ended up being difficult keeping the mic out of my hands because I was getting quite into it. I think as a group we probably sang about 1/3 of the 100 song choices on there…not kidding. We couldn’t stop. We really worried we were bothering the owners, but they claimed they didn’t hear us upstairs (how, we don’t know…because we were screechingly awful and loud at times).

Cheryl made an amazing breakfast for us in the morning. We walked around and enjoyed the grounds some more and then got ready to go.

It was really a good time. I highly recommend doing this with the ladies in your family or a group of girlfriends if at all possible. Oh, and check out Thelma’s in Crawfordsville if you ever get a chance. Thanks again, Mom, for a great getaway. Hopefully we’ll do it again someday!

Here are pictures to share…..
