Day 7 - Monday June 30th, 2003
Laid around. Mike watched lame 80's movie on Showtime.
Got tickets for Harbor Cruise for 4:15 later in day.
Went to Seaport Village around 12:00... Searched for food right away. Mike went to a grill & got cheeseburger with cheese fries. Amy waited in line forever at a deli. Then waited a long time to hear order # called. (While mike was waiting "patiently" with his food). Finally got chicken ceasar wrap & cream soda. Sat outside and ate (an ocean view).
Lots of birds (mainly pigeons) flying all around concession area. Crazy! They fly right at your head.
After we ate, sat by the ocean and took pictures of aircraft carriers.
Strolled the shops (very eclectic, unique).
Neat "Tile Shop." Bought a tile for outdoor patio table.
Amy went in candy shop. Yum. Picked a variety of salt water taffies and 2 chocolate covered (white & dark) strawberries. Mike doesn't like so Amy ate both.
2 hour parking time limit (with store validation) was about up. Drove car out of lot & back around to another spot. Amy's idea of course.
Finally found cute turtle for Amy's mom.
Amy bought a Hawaii shirt. She's never been to Hawaii.
Drove a little ways to the Harbor Excursion Tours. Waited in line and then boarded the 1 hour cruise (4:15).
Saw several aircraft carriers and navy transport ships. Funny harbor tour guide. Described several of the buildings downtown. (History, architecture, etc.). Took the south route under the Coronado bridge. Very hot on the way south, cold and windy on the way back.
Drove straight to Old Town for one more authentic Mexican meal (Mike was craving). Went to Casa de Pico (ended up being in Old Town State Park within the Bazaar del Mundo (shops). Waited in line outside (was looking like it would take forever to get seated). Amy went to the bathroom while mike waited. By the time she got back, Mike was at the very front of the line.
Amy ordered a yummy, good-sized margarita. Mike got a huge Pepsi. Everything was big at this place. The salsa was hot. Amy ordered a combo plate. Enchilada, taco, and burrito. Mike - Steak burrito with guacamole, beans and rice.
We were painfully full by the end of the meal.
Walked around to all of the different ethnic shops. Authentic things. Mike would not let Amy buy anything. Just wanted to go back to the hotel. Grouch! (9:00ish).
Went to the outdoor whirlpool/hot tub when we got back. Felt really good at first then started to feel pretty hot! Felt the need to get out after only 15 minutes or so. Then started to go into "heated" pool but was quite cold.
